Grimm + Parker inspires young girls to get into architecture!

Grimm + Parker employees participated in the ‘Design Like A Girl’ week long summer camp at the District Architecture Center in downtown Washington, DC.

The budding young designers ranged from 8 -12 years old and learned about scale, floor plans, exterior building materials, structure, and basically everything you’d review in architecture school in one week! They even got to test their knowledge in DC’s busy Gallery Place/Chinatown neighborhood by going on an architectural scavenger hunt to identify real life design components and typologies.

This 5-day summer camp encouraged creative thinking while using design arts to enhance STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) skills.

‘Design Like A Girl’ is organized by the Washington Architectural Foundation and the Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital.
