Oakdale High School

Oakdale High School  is a new 249,700 s.f. comprehensive high school designed for a student capacity of 1,600.  The new high school facility is planned to function as an educational, cultural and recreational activity center for the entire community.  To accomodate this, the building is organized to allow the public-use spaces of the school to be separated into easily secured zones with independent entrances and direct supervision from the administration and guidance offices. 

All public-use spaces are linked to a main public way that functions not only asa circulation corridor, but also as lobby and reception space for the gymnasium, auditorium, media center and foodservice areas.  The academic portions of the building incorporate a “cluster” approach which attempts to breakdown the scale of the large building into a series of academic wings (Sciences, Humanities, Arts and the 9th Grade Academy).
