Victoria Park is located in Walkersville, a quiet and historic town near Frederick, Maryland. Walkersville’s heritage of Craftsman style buildings is celebrated in the design of this senior building. 

Craftsman style elements expressed in the building elevations are: gabled roofs with projecting rafters and brackets, deep shaded porches with tapered wood columns, and square window proportions. The common areas were designed to be as open as possible in order to enhance visual connection between spaces and to maximize resident interaction. The interior design also follows the hallmarks of the Craftsman style: wainscoting on common areas walls, built-in displays, cased openings, and tapered columns on low walls.

Victoria Park at Walkersville is designed with Aging-in-Place in mind. Common areas include: 2-story lobby, lounge, cybercafé, fitness room, arts & crafts room, 2-story library, multi-purpose room, game room, and solarium. The solarium and the covered porches serve as intermediate spaces connecting the indoors to the outdoors.

This 3-story, 80-unit rental apartment for seniors 62 and older was developed with State tax credits and is the Winner of the 2008 Governor’s Award for Commitment to Excellence (Rental Housing Sustainability).
